The Mojito mixes rum with fresh lime juice, sugar, mint, and soda water—it’s a sweet, tangy, and refreshing cocktail that’s a perfect summer drink.
Ingredients
- 2 oz (60 ml) rum
- 0.75 oz (22.5 ml) fresh lime juice
- 0.5 oz (15 ml) rich Demerara syrup
- Soda water
- 10-12 mint leaves + mint sprig for garnish
Steps
- Chill a Collins glass in the freezer.
- In a shaker, combine the rum, lime juice, and Demerara syrup.
- Take the chilled glass, slap the mint leaves to activate their oils, and place them in the glass.
- Agitate the mint leaves and rub them against the walls of the glass with a bar spoon, being careful not to break them up.
- Layer ice cubes in the glass.
- Add cubed ice to the shaker and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds.
- Double strain the mixture into the chilled glass.
- Top up the glass with soda water (about 3 oz).
- Using the bar spoon, pull up some of the mint leaves into the drink.
- Garnish with a mint sprig and lime wheel.
NOTES
- This recipe uses white rum, but you can use any type of rum you prefer.
