A Basil Gimlet is a refreshing gin cocktail with a hint of basil. It’s easy to make and perfect for a summer evening.

Basil Gimlet


Ingredients

  • 2 oz (60 ml) gin
  • 0.75 oz (22.5 ml) simple syrup
  • 0.75 oz (22.5 ml) fresh lime juice
  • 8-12 basil leaves
  • Basil leaf for garnish

Steps

  1. Chill a coupe glass in the freezer.
  2. In a shaker, combine gin, simple syrup, basil leaves, and lime juice.
  3. Add cubed ice and shake well.
  4. Double strain the mixture into the chilled coupe glass.
  5. Garnish with the basil leaf.

  • I was using a rich simple syrup and it was a little sweep for me. Maybe use 1:1 or a little less. 2:1 might be perfect for someone who likes sweeter cocktails.
